Street filled with flags and bunting for Euro 20243 hours agoBy Jake Garner, voleybol ısınma hareketleri resimli anlatım Greig Watson, BBC News, NottinghamShareBBCTony Brown said the decorations looked great but were noisy in the windA street is billing itself as the most patriotic in Nottinghamshire after being decked out in dozens of England flags.Pinewood Gardens in Clifton has been adorned with variations of the St George flag and more than a mile and a half of bunting. The display has been prompted by the national team taking part in the Euro 2024 football championship.Resident Tony Brown, who helped organised the flags, said: "We go round to each other's houses to watch the games".Organisers said the decorations had got everyone smilingThe celebration was started by resident Charlie Brown, who has now travelled to Germany, where the tournament is being held. His father Tony said: "It's great! Very noisy at night when the wind blows but it's lovely. It's nice to see people smiling."It starts at my house and it just goes on and spreads through the street. "We go round to each other's houses to watch the games and you can hear the cheers when England score."Residents said everyone "chips in" to make the area feel specialResident Rich Baker, 62, was impressed with the amount of work put in.“This street is fantastic for patriotism," he said. He added: “All the neighbours chip in and get on board with the tournament, there isn’t one of us in the street who doesn’t help out. "If it’s the most patriotic street… we’ll certainly take that."Neighbour Mick Greensmith, 68, said: “It wasn’t easy but we did it together, we built it as a team and it gives us a fantastic street community which a lot of communities lack.“We don’t just do football tournaments, we do parties, birthdays, coronations. Any excuse to have a street party and bring the community together.“I get very emotional when I speak about the street and what we do, especially when it comes to the football."We all love it, we are a street that pulls together and the community feel is immense. Most people should take note, because it’s important."Follow BBC Nottingham on Facebook, on X, or on Instagram.
